For me Saturday 15 December 2012 was a sad day. I received a text from Dan who is one of the guitar players of the band White Valentine (the band I manage, or as you will find out in a minute, used to manage), asking me to call him – so I did. He informed me that the band had decided to split up. I don’t know what my first reaction was, to be honest I didn’t really know how to react.

The short version of the reasoning behind this decision was to do with work, he had been offered a great opportunity which he could not turn down. All I could do was congratulate him and offer my support which the guys know they have and will have until my dying day.

I said to him at the time that being sensible sucks but we can’t escape reality. If a person has a household, and even if they don’t everyone still has bills to pay. In an uncertain climate that is even more of a priority, which of course leaves your dreams to be put to the back of the wardrobe with all of your other unused items, until another day – and hopefully that day will come before you reach 65.

But this is sounding too morbid, the boys have had some wonderful achievements and are set to have many more in life. As White Valentine they secured their place in the rock, punk and progressive metal scene, all who have listened to their music have given positive feedback and they have personalities that will leave you in stitches at times. Their aim was to bring something different to the table, and I believed this from the first moment I heard their music.

Here are some examples…..

…..and many more

Even though I have lots of things to keep me out of mischief, for example Rogue Run 2013 will soon be upon us, even sooner Lotus Magma “Off the Cuff” is set to reach its 1,000,000th hit, a new book is to be released and we have some wicked websites on board, I do honestly feel that I am missing something, there is a void.

Its not completely the end yet, the guys have a final gig to play – details of which will be posted shortly. I can only hope that one day the boys might reconsider and start back up again. In the meantime I have kept the website active, so please take a look and listen to some of their tracks by clicking the link below, and when you listen to their songs, please show some appreciation by posting on their Facebook page (this can also be accessed through the website).
